Hello Everyone!
Thank you for everyone who came and helped us paint our floor, props, and backdrops. We were able to get almost all of it done in one night and are set up for a great season.
This week is a normal rehearsal schedule and then we have our very first competition on Saturday at Northridge High School.
Monday: 6:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. AFJH
Tuesday: 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. AFHS
Wednesday: 6:00 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. AFJH
Thursday: Rifles 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 AFHS
Saturday: Call time is TBD at American Fork High. I will let you know as soon as I know, but it will be between 12 and 1 p.m. You will need to have your full hair, makeup, and uniform on!
Performance time: 3:01 p.m.
Awards: 6:30 p.m.
We will board the bus and leave as quickly as possible after awards. I would assume that we will be leaving around 7:30 and the bus ride is about 1 hour.
Northridge High School:
2430 North Hillfield Rd; Layton, Utah 84041
Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for children and students with an activity card, and $20 for families of 5.
Please bring the following:
- A change of clothes for after we perform. You will have about 3 hours after we perform to watch other guards.
- Garment bag for storing your uniform. You can purchase these for fairly cheap from Walmart etc.
- Money for food, or dinner from home, snacks. There will be concessions to buy food from, or you can bring food from home. Please eat lunch before your call time.
- Makeup, hairspray, bobby pins, hair elastics etc. for touchups. After a long bus ride we want to make sure our hair and makeup looks fresh.
- Your equipment- you are in charge of getting your equipment to and from the show. You should be taking your equipment home to practice anyway, but if you leave your equipment at the jr high on Wednesday, we will not be able to get it out for you on Saturday.
Most girls bring a small duffle bag with hair and makeup supplies, food, electrical tape, feminine hygiene products, etc. We will have an area to store our equipment and personal bags.
Parents, if you come to watch your child perform, you are more than welcome to take them home instead of them riding the bus. To do this, you will need to come talk to me and make sure I see you with your child, it cannot be a sibling or friend's parent. Because of liability, I will need to see you to release your student. Please do not take your child home early unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Our portion of the competition does not technically get over until our awards ceremony is over and we will sit as a team until that time. Again, if there is an extenuating circumstance please let me know before the day of the competition.
You are more than welcome to stay and watch the remainder of the show and support the American Fork A, Open, and Wasatch Independent teams. Your child will only be able to sit along the back sideline unless you purchase a ticket for them to sit on the front. If you paid to attend the competition, but don't want to purchase a ticket for your student, you are more than welcome to sit in the back with them if you would like.
I am very happy with the progress we have made as a team. I am excited to go to our first competition and see you all perform!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Whitney
